Insights and Final Log

Hello everyone!

It's been almost a week since I released the game. As you know, It's my first game. I'd like to share with you what this experience has taught me.

Firstly, I must confess that the game received much more attention than I had anticipated. In just four days, it reached nearly 2000 plays and 20 downloads. I had initially thought that only 200-300 people would play it and then it would be forgotten. Therefore, I am grateful to all of you who have shown interest in the game. Thank you very much.

I would also like to express my gratitude to Incremental DB for hosting the game. It was uploaded there on the first day of release and helped many people discover the game. I also want to thank the All in Games channel for uploading a gameplay video of the game on YouTube.

From the feedback I received, I noticed some shortcomings in the game:

  • Lack of MacOs and IOS support: I realized that more people use Apple products than I had thought. While it's possible to open the game on MacOs using Chrome, it's not the optimal method.
  • Compatibility with browsers other than Chrome: Since I tested the game on Windows and Chrome, I focused on bug fixes for these platforms. Some users reported issues with Firefox. This is likely related to Godot's shader buffer requirement, but I didn't encounter any problems with Firefox when I tested it.
  • Complexity and Writing: Since this is my first game, I kept the gameplay at a certain level of complexity, otherwise I wouldn't be able to handle it. Similarly, writing was an area where I put a lot of effort into, but it ended up being only a fraction of what I had in mind. I deliberately kept the dialogues short to ensure the game could be completed within a realistic time window.
  • Progression Balance: After reading the feedback, I have a better understanding of how progression should work in a clicker game.  I had to make some adjustments, and after the launch, I uploaded a patch to fix that.

However, instead of continuing to develop this game, I have decided to start working on my next project. Adding new elements to the game or changing some systems would be quite costly at this stage. Therefore, I will use what I have learned from this game to create a much better one next time.

I want to thank everyone who played and commented on the game. Finally, I want to mention that I want to make this my full-time job. Therefore, potential donations are really important to me. If you have a spare 1-2 dollars, you can show your support by donating through this platform.

Thank you all.
